Dear Swimmers,

We are excited to welcome you to the upcoming season with the Stone Ridge Sharks swim team! To ensure the safety and proper placement of all our swimmers, we require mandatory evaluations for all new Stone Ridge Sharks swimmers and kickboarders, regardless of age.

Evaluation Dates:

• March 30
• Make-Up Date: April 4

Thank you to those who have already signed up. If you haven't signed up yet, please do so as soon as possible. Evaluations are mandatory, and no-shows will result in moving on to someone else on the waitlist.

Who Needs an Evaluation?

• Any Kickboarder or Swim Team member brand new to our team
• A returning Kickboarder trying to make the regular swim team
• A returning Little Shark who is now 9 and needs to be able to complete 50 meters without stopping

Evaluation Requirements:

• For Swimmers Age 8 and Younger:
  • Get in and out of the pool independently.
  • Swim 25 meters of a recognizable competitive stroke.
  • Swim unassisted without stopping or touching the bottom of the pool or lane lines.
  • Tread water for 30 seconds without touching the bottom of the pool.
• For Swimmers Age 9 and Older:
  • Get in and out of the pool independently.
  • Swim 50 meters of a recognizable competitive stroke.
  • Swim unassisted without stopping or touching the bottom of the pool or lane lines.
  • Tread water for 30 seconds without touching the bottom of the pool.
• Kickboarders:
  • Be able to leave their parents or guardians.
  • Kick on a kickboard solo in the correct way.
  • Perform a few strokes solo.

Evaluation Schedule:

• 3:30 PM: Kickboarders
• 4:00 PM: 8 and Under
• 5:00 PM: 9-12
• 5:30 PM: 13 and Up

Important Notes:

• No parents will be allowed on deck during evaluations.
• Coaches will not speak to parents during evaluations.
• Decisions will be emailed within 48 hours of evaluations.
