Sharks Parent Meeting Slides and Frequently Asked Questions

Families,

  1. It was great to see so many familiar faces last evening as well as our newest members of our Shark Family. As promised, here is our slideshow with all of the information and answers to many questions over the last few days.

Frequently Asked Questions:

When will volunteer sign ups open up?

All volunteer events will open up on Sunday, May 19th. An email will announce when signups are open and available. Points will only be awarded only if you fulfill your volunteer obligation that you have signed up for.

If you cannot commit to your volunteer slot you must remove yourself from the slot, so that another willing family can fill that position.

Are Swim Caps One Size Fits All?

Yes, swim caps come in one size! We recommend only wearing your team cap for meets to avoid ripping it and wear a cheaper cap to practice.

How do I buy a Sharks cap?

They were on sale at our parent meeting. We will have them for sale again at our Sharks Pep Rally and Kickoff on Friday June 7.

Kickboards: For our smaller swimmers, please get the junior size kickboards: https://www.swimoutlet.com/products/sporti-junior-kickboard-20748

For our older(12 and over), some can use the larger one: https://www.swimoutlet.com/products/sporti-adult-kickboard-20756

Personalized Caps:

We did not do personalized caps this season. We do not know who is on the team before the deadline, and they are getting very pricey.

Do I need to wear a cap?

Meets: If you have shorter hair, no. If you have longer hair, yes.

Practice: optional

Kickboarders: What do they need? They do not need a team suit.

Boys can wear a jammer or a regular swim suit.

Girls should wear a one piece swim suit.

They should have a pair of goggles and a kickboard for practice.

Time Trials:

This is a practice meet, and it is just our team. Swimmers can swim in all 5 events if they are legal in each stroke. Do not sign up if not approved by a coach for anything other than free and back. Registration is now open. https://stoneridgesharks.swimtopia.com/swim_meets

What do I need for meets:

Swimmers wear their team suit and cap along with their favorite pair of goggles. Here are some more tips for before, during, and after the meet: https://stoneridgesharks.swimtopia.com/swim-meet-101

Kickboarders:

  • The first practice is Monday, June 17.
  • Kickboards do not participate in a regular swim meet.
  • Kickboarders are invited to come swim 10 minutes before our HOME meets with their kickboard coaches across the pool with their kickboards to kick off the meet. These dates are: June 19, 22, 26 and July 10.
  • We will have a mini meet with older swimmers cheering for them on Friday, July 19 at the end of practice.
